Abstract:
As a consequence of climate change and high pollution in cities, electric vehicles (EV) are repeatedly the focus of attention. Considering the restrictions affecting Diesel engines as well as the constantly rising fuel prices, electrically powered vehicles play an important part in the future of individual mobility. Nevertheless, electric vehicles are still facing multiple problems when it comes to their acceptance in society. In addition to high purchase prices, a major disadvantage of EVs compared to combustion engine powered vehicles is the significantly shorter range. Together with the still poorly developed charging infrastructure, the fear of running out of energy before reaching the destination arises, also referred to as “range anxiety”. To cope with these problems, it is indispensable to make EV more affordable, reliable and comfortable.
